Nicaragua Mission TripNICARAGUA MISSIONS

In December of 2007, a work team from our church started a medical clinic building on San Fernando Island in Nicaragua. Because our mission agency there stopped operations the building was never finished. The people on the island have asked us to help them finished the building. They will do the work and we will buy the building supplies, which will cost $1,300. The good news is that we have the money in our Nicaragua fund to buy the materials.

As the TV ads say, “But wait, there is more!” Pastor Brown has developed with the national health department a plan to continue the medical mission work in the islands. The Health Department will provide continuous training and supervision for our health providers there, and provide medicine for the clinics. Two families have pledged to pay to support the health workers. So a work team is going in December, the 4th through the 13th, to build a second clinic on the poorest island in the Solentiname chain. We need two kinds of volunteers. Some who can do building work, and others who can work with the children during the week. If we buy our tickets now before the price goes up, the total cost will be about $1,200 per person. This includes $200 from each person for building materials. If you cannot go, you might consider making a contribution for materials. Please let Donna Scott know if you are interested in going.

“But there is more!” We have a trained health provider on another island, La Venada. If we are successful with our present projects, we plan to build another clinic there next year. Then we will have the island fairly well covered for health care. Not bad for a small local church!

None of the money we are speaking of comes from the regular church budget. It is all given by individuals as special offerings. This way it does not put an extra financial burden on the church.
