About Us

Our vision is to share the Christian faith with all in such a way that all are enabled to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We are the body of Christ: Proclaiming, loving and in unity growing and serving.

"Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it."  1 Corinthians 12:27

“Through love serve one another for all is fulfilled in this one word, you shall love one another.” Galatians 5:3-14

The Good News of Jesus Christ should be proclaimed in both large group settings such as "temple courts" or church sanctuaries as well as in small group settings such as from "House to House."  Either approach alone will not be as effective in reaching people as when large and small group settings are used together.

We believe:

  • That the Bible is the authentic message of God
  • That Jesus has restored us to true relationship with God
  •  That we respond to Jesus by placing our trust in Him
  •  That the Holy Spirit empowers us to live joyful lives of faith and witness

Historical Summary

A group of fourteen women and six men established " The Baptist Society" in Muskegon, MI, on April 1870.  The initial meetings were held in the "Old Opera House" with an attendance of 92 per Sunday during the first Year.

Shortly after that the church purchased a lot on the corner of Clay Ave. and Second St., where a chapel was erected in May 1871. By 1887 the membership grew to 347.

A new facility was dedicated in 1891 which was completely destroyed in a fire in 1955.

In 1958 land was purchased on Quarterline Road and a new facility was completed in 1960.

In 1999 a "Family Center" addition to the existing facility was undertaken to continue the church's outreach to the Muskegon community as a witness of the grace of God found in the Lord Jesus Christ.
